What is flirty?

What is flirty? What do you think of when you hear the word? When we
say, “Find your inner flirt”, we don’t mean go out and throw yourself
at the mailman, or wear leopard pumps to the playground. Your inner flirt is the you that feels
confident and content; the you that feels like a million bucks. You’re comfortable, you’re polished,
and best of all, you’re happy.
You’re flirty!
The simple fact is
that most women staying at home, either with kids or with a computer, often
don’t feel very flirty. We’re busy
doing everything for everyone else and we dedicate very little time to
ourselves. When we do, we feel
guilty, but that’s a whole different website.
Believe it or not,
Jamie and I used to spend a lot of time looking at fashion, reading about fashion,
talking about fashion…heck, we lived fashion. Then one day we had children and
it all kind of went out the window. For a while we lived in sweats and in a
way, it was a relief after years in
the corporate world. However, it’s
a fine line between being comfortable and cozy and feeling demoralized and
frumpy. Just because I no longer had time to stand in front of my closet and
try to figure out what to wear, did not mean I had to wear my husband’s
Fairfield sweatshirt for the third day in a row.
I don’t know who
said, “When you look good, you feel good”, but truer words were never
spoken. We’ve all had the feeling
of an outfit that looks great on us.
It just works, and when it does, you feel like you can take on the
world. The thing is, it’s really
not all that hard to achieve and it certainly doesn’t have to make you slash
your Starbucks budget or forgo college for the kids to get there.
Jamie and I have
different styles but when we sat down to figure out what FlirtyFinds would be, one thing became apparent. No matter what your style, the idea is
the same. You invest in a few
wardrobe basics—great fitting jeans, a couple of simple tops, and sweaters in
neutral colors. These staples are
all interchangeable. Then you
create “the look” by adding accessories that pop—a fashion-forward Big Buddha
bag, a chic sweater wrap, a cool belt or scarf, a pair of hoop earrings, a
chunky necklace or a stack of bracelets.
The beautiful thing is that each time you change the accessories, you
create a whole new look. It’s
really that simple.
We’ve had so many
emails looking for advice that we’ve decided to create a blog we hope will be
helpful. I’ll answer the question
of what to wear when…
you’re going for a
teacher conference
you’re meeting an
old rival
your son’s new
doctor is hotter than McDreamy
and on and on….
As someone who is neither flirty or able to figure out what to wear, I wanted to just post a quick testimonial to Beth (and Jamie), and their ability to help those of us who are wardrobe-challenged. Flirtyfinds is truly a great place to test the waters and figure out your true style. Beth is phenomenally patient, and is 100% invested in helping women find their style and feel like they have viable options in their closet. Love the blog, girls, and can't wait for the next post!!!
What's wrong with wearing leopard pumps to the playground? Okay seriously, I fought accessorizing for years. Always felt like the accessory was wearing me instead of the other way around. Then, Beth put a pair of earrings on me that changed my look--and my mood--so dramatically, I'm hooked! A simple pair of fun earrings and now I know what flirty feels like! Listen to her girls...the guru speaks!
I couldn't agree with Beth more! Attractive, well-fitting clothing and accessories make you more confident and happy even when your day is made up of mundane errands. Fashion should be fun and comfortable. Thanks Beth for this great blog!
