What to Wear on Thanksgiving
Posted by Beth on 11/5/2010

I’m sitting here trying to figure out how to tell my son that masked
men came in and stole all the good stuff from his Halloween haul. In my hypoglycemic haze, I think about how full I am and that, of course, leads me right to Thanksgiving and the next flirty blog.
It's time to go over the river and through the woods. Probably not to your Grandma's house, may she rest in peace, but you're going somewhere or someone is coming to you. And you most likely have to cook something. So, what to wear?
You want to be stylish but comfortable. One of this season's best style trends, the sweater dress, is a perfect pick for Thanksgiving. Dressed up or dressed down, the sweater dress is not clingy, instead it stretches in a flattering way over the hips and tush. What could be more comfortable for the turkey-induced coma?
I am opting for a charcoal dress with matching tights and a funky necklace. A dark, forgiving color is smart, especially if you will be cooking. Skip the scarf today - there is nothing flirty about your scarf in the gravy bowl. I would also skip big bracelets and rings if you are cooking, and opt instead for a funky statement necklace or big chunky earrings to jazz up your neutral dress. Keep your shoes comfortable so you are not tempted to change into your slippers – another not-so-flirty look. I am going with tall low-heel boots, or ballet flats.
Finally, Thanksgiving obviously evokes thoughts of turkey doesn't it? That got me thinking about turkeys past. No, not your ex-boyfriend or husband turkey, but turkeys as in big, fat fashion flops. For example, this would be a good time to mention that holiday
sweaters are pretty much NEVER a good idea. Same goes for the sweats that you call your “eating clothes”. And please, please, please, can we all promise once and for all to get rid of those high-waist Mom pants that make our ass look like a horn of plenty?
Oh, and have a Happy and flirty Thanksgiving!

You rock!! What a creative, kitzy and fun Thanksgiving blog! I always miss you, but miss you most at the holidays! We sure had some fun, "back in the day?!" Love you guys and Happy T Day!

P.S. Since I am not cooking, I am thinking of going all out with the carmel Carolyn sweater and a sequin tank from JCrew... festive huh?!
